So, after the disaster that was the Cambridge run that retired my trusty brooks, I finally managed to get myself a pair of new trainers. Ive been using an old pair that have effectively destroyed two of my toenails in a short period, and have been causing me pain in my left calf.
Theres a running shop a few miles away and the service there is always excellent. The guy that runs it is a runner himself and so knows what I need for my challenge ahead and he sorted me out with a nice pair of Mizuno's. The heel is slightly higher than the Brooks pair that I had been running with, but there is more spring in the sole which makes for easier running.
In addition to the new shoes, I picked up a pair of Hilly compression socks that are working a treat at the moment. I went for an 11k run today with them on, it was a slightly odd experience, but 6 hours later my legs are feeling good with no residual tingles or heaviness.
Emi has her first half marathon tomorrow in Brentwood so its unlikely ill be able to get out for my planned 16km planned training run, but hopefully might be able to make it once we get back in the evening. I'm still yet to test out the new shoes/socks on a longer run, so will report back once I have!
Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine and have managed to get out on a run to enjoy it!
