Last run of 2011!

Just logged my last run of 2011, and what an epic run it was!

can't believe how much my running has changed throughout 2011, from my first 5mile race in january, to completing a marathon 11 months later.

Looking forward to all the challenges that 2012 will bring, and to anyone reading this, happy new year! I hope that 2012 gives you everything you need to succeed in whatever you choose to do!

Happy Christmas!

Well, Christmas has just flown by!!! Had an absolutely amazing time although possibly drank far too much considering the road ahead, but was good to take some time to appreciate the finer things in life!

Am back to running now with a few shorter runs under my belt to get me going after the holidays which were filled with heavy food and not much exercise!
Managed to get out today for a steady 8 mile run with the running club which was aces. Its awesome to be able to get out with them again, and makes a huge difference running with a group of people as opposed to being on your own.

Some good news as well in that my girlfriend is entering a dozen races with me next year and she is starting to get into running, which means i'll have a training partner through the majority of my runs!

Will be endeavouring to get back into the routine of things (including hopefully a healthy diet!) pretty sharpish, and luckily the running seasons starts in less than a week with the first race a nice 1/4 marathon. Its only 4 weeks now until the start of the marathon challenge, and its getting all sorts of scary.

Injury wise, i think i have managed to pick up a bit of a niggle in my left quad which is playing up, but hopefully my physio will be able to patch me up before it all starts.

Managed to get a few bits of running gear for christmas, and am absolutely loving not having to wash all my stuff every night to be used the next day!

Second marathon confirmed

Just entered the Cotswolds Marathon on 19.02.2012! only 10 left to do!

Slacking!

Well, its been a pretty poor week for running i must say! Ive been a bit distracted by all the festivities and christmas parties so running has taken a bit of a back seat!

Managed to get out last night though for a nice 7miles which felt awesome, legs were a little stiff for the most part and definately feeling the inactivity this morning!

Still, training has progressed nicely and will be trying to get out as much as possible over the holidays (hangover permitting!) ready to get into the swing of things properly after the new year!

Merry christmas everyone!

Wonderful weather for a run!

Well, perhaps not wonderful weather, infact theres not alot of room left to be further away from wonderful! But, after an inspirational message from a good friend (something along the lines of "get on with it bollock chops") managed to drag myself out to do  a nice gentle 7 mile run.

Running in the pouring rain, gale force winds and low temperatures can teach you many things. For example, I learnt that my waterproof high vis jacket is infact no longer waterproof, or perhaps just not waterproof enough! So, lesson learned and I will be replacing it asap! Also, wearing tracksuit bottoms is asking for trouble, as they basically turn into 4kg weights on each leg, and you don't remain even slightly dry!

Still it's another mental test tackled, and I know that come what may, be in sun or rain, my legs and mind will be able to carry me through.

This one was for you PJ, always an inspiration :)

What a week for running!

And not in a good way unfortunately! The weather is getting quite bleak and cold with it averaging about 3 degrees by the time I have finished work, and the rain is really starting to set in!

This means that i've finally succumbed to a cold and trying to fight it off as best I can with a steady supply of lemsip and vitamin C, which thankfully seem to be doing the trick!

Managed to get a good solid run in on monday but tuesday was a write off, so I swapped wednesday's off day to tuesday and all is right with the world again!

Managed to get in my first treadmill run in a long time, and I remember why I stopped doing it in the first place! Definately not my cup of tea, but may have to resort to doing it on the cold and wetter nights to help fight off the seasonal bad health.

Missed last sunday's long run due to a bit of over indulgence on the saturday night which i'm a bit annoyed about, and returning on the monday was difficult as it always seems to bit when i come back after a day off. But, need to keep my sanity some how, and so I think kicking back to relax every now and then (as long as I don't miss too many sessions) is going to a necessary evil.

Big weekend of running ahead with an 8 mile run today and 16 miles tomorrow, so will post the routes tomorrow night
